Troubleshooting Infotainment System / Frozen Screen
1. Key Cycle (Simple Restart):
- Turn off the vehicle completely: Ensure the engine is off and the vehicle is not in accessory mode.
- Open and close the driver's door: This can help ensure the system fully shuts down.
- Wait a few minutes: Allow the system to fully power down.
- Restart the vehicle: Turn the ignition back on.
2. Soft Reset (Power and Seek Buttons):
- Locate the Power button: This is usually in the center of the volume knob.
- Locate the Seek Right button: This is typically on the audio unit.
- Press and hold both buttons simultaneously: Hold them for about 5-10 seconds until the screen goes black.
- Wait for the system to restart: The screen should turn back on after a few moments.
Bluetooth Not Connecting
1. Basic Checks:
- Restart Devices: Restart your phone and the car's infotainment system (SYNC).
- Check Bluetooth Settings: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both your phone and the car's SYNC system.
- Check for Updates: Make sure your phone and the Lincoln SYNC system have the latest software updates.
2. Bluetooth Reset and Pairing:
- Clear Paired Devices: Delete your phone from the SYNC system's Bluetooth list and delete SYNC from your phone's Bluetooth list.
- Reconnect: Try pairing your phone with the SYNC system again.
- Reset Bluetooth on Phone: Some phones have a specific Bluetooth reset option.
- Reset SYNC System: You can perform a soft reset or a module reset on the SYNC system.
3. Connectivity and Software Issues:
- Check for Software Incompatibilities: Ensure your phone and the SYNC system are compatible.
- Check Connectivity Settings: Ensure vehicle connectivity settings are enabled.
- Try a Different Cable: If you're using a cable for connectivity, try a different cable.
CarPlay / Android Auto Not Working
For both CarPlay and Android Auto:
General Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check for Updates: Ensure your phone and the SYNC system in your Lincoln are up to date with the latest software.
- Restart Devices: Restart both your phone and the SYNC system in your Lincoln.
- Verify Bluetooth Connection: Ensure your phone is paired with your Lincoln via Bluetooth.
- Check USB Cable: Use a different, manufacturer-approved USB cable.
- Check for Wireless App Projection: Ensure Wireless App Projection is turned on in your vehicle's SYNC settings.
- Delete and Re-pair Devices: Delete your phone from the SYNC system and re-pair it.
- Perform a SYNC Module Reset: This can help clear any temporary glitches.
- Check for Android Auto App Issues: If using Android Auto, ensure the app is installed and up to date.
- Check for CarPlay Issues: If using CarPlay, ensure Siri, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth are enabled on your device.
Specific to Android Auto:
- Check Android Auto Settings: Ensure Android Auto is enabled in your vehicle's settings.
- Confirm Android Version: Make sure your Android phone has Lollipop 5.0 or later.
- Check for Android Auto App Issues: Uninstall and reinstall the Android Auto app.
Specific to Apple CarPlay:
- Verify Siri, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth: Ensure these features are enabled on your iPhone.

Lane Keep Assist Not Functioning
1. Check for Warning Messages and Indicators:
- Warning Messages:
- Look for any messages on the instrument cluster related to Lane Keep Assist, such as "Lane Keep Assist Not Available" or similar.
- Indicator Light:
- A yellow indicator light on the cluster may also illuminate when Lane Keep Assist is not functioning properly.
2. Reset the System:
- Turn Off and On: Try turning the ignition off and then back on to see if the system resets.
- Stop and Open/Close Door: Stop the vehicle and then open and close the driver's door to see if that triggers a reset.
3. Check for Environmental Conditions:
- Lane Markings:
- Ensure the lane markings are clear and visible. The system relies on these markings to function.
- Weather:
- Poor weather conditions (heavy rain, snow, fog) or significant sun angles can affect the camera's ability to detect lane markings.
- Traffic Conditions:
- Following a large vehicle that obscures the lane markings can also temporarily disable the system.
4. Check for Vehicle Conditions:
- Tire Inflation: Ensure your tires are properly inflated.
- Suspension Modifications: If you have modified the suspension, this could affect the system's ability to function correctly.
- Spare Tire: Using a spare tire may also cause issues with the system.
Power Liftgate Not Opening
1. Basic Checks:
- Check for Obstructions: Ensure nothing is blocking the liftgate from opening, like ice, snow, or cargo.
- Unlock the Vehicle: Make sure the vehicle is unlocked, as the power liftgate may not function when locked.
- Battery Check: Ensure the vehicle battery is fully charged and in good condition, as a weak battery can cause issues with power-operated features.
2. Inspecting the Mechanism:
- Check the Latch: Manually try to open the liftgate to see if the latch is stuck or jammed.
- Check Sensors: Some liftgates have sensors that detect obstructions or prevent the gate from closing. Check these sensors for any issues.
Parking Brake Won’t Release
1. Initial Checks & Simple Solutions:
- Set and Release Multiple Times:
- Try applying and releasing the parking brake several times to see if that jostles anything loose.
- Rock the Vehicle (Safely):
- If possible and safe, rock the car back and forth a few times to see if the brake disengages.
- Check for Loose Cables or Nuts:
- Carefully inspect the parking brake cables under the vehicle, ensuring they are properly attached and that any nuts haven't come loose.
- Lubricate the Mechanism: If the lever feels stiff or the parking brake is hard to release, try spraying a lubricant around the mechanism.
