Vehicle specific information
Vehicle specs, recommendations, and locations of important items.
Fuel Grade
- General Recommendation: Honda generally recommends using unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher.
- No Premium Required: Most CR-V models do not require premium gasoline, and using 87 octane will provide satisfactory fuel economy and performance.
- Turbocharged Engines: Some CR-V models, particularly those with turbocharged engines, may also benefit from using higher octane fuel, but the owner's manual will specify the recommended octane rating.
- Top Tier Detergent Gasoline: Honda also recommends using "Top Tier" detergent gasoline where available.
- Avoid Gasoline with High Ethanol Content:
- Do not use gasoline containing more than 15% ethanol.
- Do Not Use:
- Diesel fuel
- Fuel with more than 15% ethanol (e.g., E85)
- Fuels containing
methanol or metallic-based additives
- Leaded fuel (prohibited by law)
- Fuel Tank Capacity: The non-hybrid CR-V has a 14-gallon fuel tank.
Roadside Emergency: Spare Tire & Tools
For a roadside emergency, Honda CR-V owners can find a spare tire and tools (jack and lug wrench) in the cargo area, typically under the cargo floor.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
- Location:
- The spare tire, jack, and lug wrench are usually stored under the cargo floor in the trunk of your CR-V.
- Accessing the Spare Tire:
- You'll likely need to remove a panel or cover to access the spare tire and tools.
- Tools:
- Jack: Used to raise the vehicle to change the tire.
- Lug Wrench: Used to loosen and tighten the lug nuts on the wheels.
- Changing a Flat Tire:
- Safety First: Park the vehicle on a level, firm surface and engage the parking brake.
- Loosen Lug Nuts: Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire, but don't remove them completely yet.
- Jack Up the Vehicle: Position the jack under the vehicle's frame near the flat tire and raise it until the flat tire is off the ground.
- Remove the Flat Tire: Remove the lug nuts completely and carefully pull the flat tire off.
- Mount the Spare: Align the spare tire with the wheel studs and push it onto the hub.
- Tighten Lug Nuts: Hand-tighten the lug nuts, then use the lug wrench to tighten them in a star pattern.
- Lower the Vehicle: Lower the vehicle until the spare tire is on the ground.
- Final Tighten: Use the lug wrench to fully tighten the lug nuts.
- After Changing the Tire:
- Get the Flat Tire Repaired or Replaced: As soon as possible, take the flat tire to a tire shop to have it repaired or replaced.
- Check Spare Tire Pressure: Ensure the spare tire is properly inflated.
- Check Lug Nut Torque: After driving a short distance, check the lug nut torque to ensure they are still properly tightened.
