Fuel Grade

For Mercedes-Benz GLC models with gasoline engines, premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended for optimal performance and to prevent engine issues.

  • Mercedes-Benz explicitly recommends premium gasoline for all of its gasoline-powered vehicles, including the GLC, to ensure optimal performance and prevent engine knocking or pinging.
  • The recommended fuel should have an octane rating of 91 or higher.
  • Using lower-octane fuel (regular gasoline) can lead to engine knocking, reduced performance, and potentially long-term damage to the engine components.
  • Mercedes-Benz engines are designed to operate optimally on high-octane premium fuel.
  • Premium fuel has a higher octane rating, which helps prevent premature combustion and ensures smooth, efficient engine operation.

  • Do Not Use:
  • Diesel fuel
  • Fuel with more than 15% ethanol (e.g., E85)
  • Fuels containing methanol or metallic-based additives
  • Leaded fuel (prohibited by law)

  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 17.4 gallons (66 liters)
  • Engine: 2.0L Inline-4 turbo with mild hybrid drive
  • Fuel Requirement: Premium unleaded gasoline
  • Driving Range: Up to 556 miles under ideal conditions
  • Models: The fuel tank capacity is the same for all models, including the GLC 300, GLC 350e, and AMG GLC 43.

Roadside Emergency: Spare Tire & Tools

In case of a flat tire on your Mercedes-Benz GLC, you'll need to access the emergency spare wheel, which is located under the cargo compartment floor, and use the tools provided to change the tire.

1. Locate the Spare Tire and Tools:

Spare Tire:

  • The emergency spare wheel is stored in the cargo compartment under the cargo compartment floor.

Tools:

  • You'll likely need a lug wrench, jack, and possibly wheel wedges, which should also be stored in the cargo area.
  • Check your Owner's Manual:
  • Refer to your GLC's owner's manual for specific instructions and location of the spare tire and tools.

2. Prepare for the Change:

Safety First:

  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level, stable surface and engage the parking brake.

Wheel Wedges:

  • If you have wheel wedges, place them behind the wheels that are not being changed.

Loosen Lug Nuts:

  • Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire, but don't remove them completely yet.

Position the Jack:

  • Place the jack under the designated jacking point on the vehicle, near the flat tire.

Change the Tire:

  • Raise the Vehicle: Raise the vehicle with the jack until the flat tire is off the ground.

Remove the Flat Tire: Remove the lug nuts and the flat tire.

Install the Spare Tire: Mount the spare tire and secure the lug nuts.

Lower the Vehicle: Lower the vehicle with the jack until the spare tire is on the ground.

Tighten Lug Nuts: Tighten the lug nuts fully.

4. After Changing the Tire:

Check Lug Nut Torque:

  • After driving a short distance, re-check and tighten the lug nuts to ensure they are properly secured.

Replace the Flat Tire:

  • Have the flat tire repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

Note:

  • The emergency spare wheel may have a speed limit, so check your owner's manual for restrictions.

Contact Roadside Assistance:

  • If you're unsure about changing the tire or need assistance, contact Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance.
